    Open loop cooling issues

    Hi all,

I am running an open loop cooling kit on my 07 RXP. It has a thru-hull pisser that usually has water coming out of it even on idle.

I noticed today that on idle, there was NO water coming out of it, and when I accelerated only a little bit came out, more as I accelerated harder.

Rode for about 3 hours today, didn't experience any overheating issues.

I don't have much idea about how the cooling is routed as I bought the ski like this, but all I know is that there is a hose running from the J-pipe to the oil cooler, then out through the pisser.

It most likely is a blockage, but I have no idea where to even start looking.

Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Oh, and it runs fine on the hose, like it should. Whole different story out on the water.

Start by looking for a kinked hose first,IF no hoses are kinked then more than likely you have a clog somewhere..It could be anywhwere...Id look at the oil cooler first though...Especially if your not running a strainer..

Do you have a in-line water strainer? How does it look? this is my first bet, because as the strainer clogs the water flow is less. It may not over heat because are sensor is at 220F and it takes it a bit to get that hot with some cooling.
    Sounds like JD-1 water routing.

Check all your hoses,Make sure no kinks or loose clamps,Then look at your oil cooler...Suggestion: Get an In-line strainer ASAP!!!

Bro! You really need to install a water strainer "ASAP" when running the Open Loop System. I was running the OL and the first thing was installing one. It's like Snoman and Water said check for kinked lines in the system.
