    Keyz' MSX 150 update

Took the oil tank off today and found some pieces of the case (assuming) in the hull along with some oil. Not real excited about that, but I will try to pull the motor today and may be able to have it welded back together.

For those of you who dont know I bought this from keyz a couple weeks ago and knew something was keeping the motor from turning over. I was hoping it would be something simple but after finding these two chunks of aluminum I now know its going to take a bit of work to get it up and running again. No biggie, I still got a great deal

no problem man, I was thinking that anyway because of 4strokepolaristech's comment. it happens. looks like one of the bolts on the lower crank bearing came apart, causing the other one to bend and break.. busting the cases in the process. there will be more pics once I split the cases.

i knew it was a locked up rod and then when i seen the first picture i really knew(part of a rod bearing) and then the last picture well that speaks for itself.....the bolts backed out after the bearing spun....the bottom of the rod hammering itself against the rod journal just loosened up or broke the bolts.....I might have a good used engine for that i will have to check if you are interested.....

I know how funny is when the lower half of the rod bearing is actually busting out the case.

I may be interested in the used motor, I just need to tear it down and asses the damage to see how costly the repair would be. The local weld shop can rebuild the case, since its not on the mating surface for about $50. it looked like it was tore up more inside from what I could see through the hole but I will know for sure when I take it apart this week.

you are going to need more than just the case repaired ....crank,rods,pitons, maybe a head and some valves and maybe a replate on the cylinders....let us know what you find.....

I know Im going to need rods, a crank, pistons.. just need a flywheel puller to get it apart the rest of the way. anyone know the thread size and pitch for that? I'll measure it tomorrow just didnt have enough time today. Theres a lot of metal in this thing, and chunks of the bridged part are beaten up real bad. Not sure if it is rebuildable yet. valves on the bad side are stuck open.
