The FZ's are very safe in their stock form. If you modify them to go faster than stock then you will want to install an intake grate on the ski. I recommend the R&D grate.

I originally modified my FZR and kept the stock grate and when i reached 74.5 mph it would cause the ski to buck when i let off the throttle hard. Installing the grate solved this issue.

Jerry what do you like about the R&D grate over the other grates?
