Difference Between 61x and 62T Cases

I am rebuilding my 62T 701 engine and need new cases. What is the difference between 61x and 62T. Is it even possible to run all 62T stuff with 61x cases? If yes would it result in less power?

62T cases came in 96 Blasters, Raiders, 96+ SJ's etc. The HP on a 62T ranges depending on exhaust and cylinder since the engines had "TRUE" 62T's ..while some had the bottom half a 62T while the top cylinder was a 61X depending on application

Run a 62T case for sure....cylinders...the 62T cylinder makes better mid to upper power and higher rpm applications....61X for bottom in stock form. Engine builders prefer the 62T if porting due to the larger exhuast tunnel.

    Stock 61X was 63 HP
    Stock 62T/61X was 73HP
    Raider 62T/62T was 80hp

the intake track, and design is completly different between the two cases.

IMO 62t cases are much better.

if you went to 61x cases, you would need a 61x intake, and reeds. 61x is a single carb, stock. a dual 61x intake is rare, and hard to find.

61X vs 62T exhaust pipe gasket

Any idea how to fix a small water leak coming from where the exhaust/muffler connects to the cylinder?

Im using a 61X cylinder and a 62T model exhaust/muffler and seem to have a small leak coming from the gasket area. Should i use a a 61X gasket instead of a 62t gasket?

So should I be selling mine and making a few $ or hiding them away?
