Should I be concerned about '08 RXT-X hull cracks?

TMI is a bad thing. I have read too many posts here about the tunnel stress cracks on RXT-X's. I can get a great deal on a new '08 RXT-X, but I am not handy enough to trust myself with doing the reinforcement. SO, should I just spend the $3500+ more for a 2010? I know it's 50 lbs. heavier, but do you think they've fixed the hull issue?

    THANKS for any thoughts.

I love my TX, when I have had it. That being said I would buy the 08 TX and take the extra money and have the tunnel professionally reinforced

OK, so was there a focused effort by BRP to strengthen the 2010 hull? Or do people agree with Troyheb that I should get the '08 and get it reinforced?

Why would you buy a new PWC, car or anything and immediately have to get it fixed? There is something wrong with that.

But, I don't own one so my opinion doesn't really count.

To answer your question on the S3 hull, yes it is totally redesigned.

VERY well-put, antoniodef. I appreciate everyone's insights. Any other opinions are more than welcome. Looks like I still have a few months before the 2010's will be available.

What about a 2009 t-x? Still the same problem?

Correct; the 2008-2009 T-X hulls are history.
Sea-Doo will need to step up and avoid those type of manufacturing issues if they plan to hold market share against the others like Yamaha; but let's face it; the new Yamaha tunnels are not bullet proof either, as evidenced by these GH member comments:

"Hey guys, the pump housing on my SHO (48hrs) just cracked day before last. Water started fillin my hull, luckily caught it in time. I know of a couple other guys down here have had same problem with their SHO's... I think the constant on/off hookup is creating a tremendous pressure on the pump walls that it obviously cannot handle."

"Well guys mine offically cracked yesterday also. the whole right side of the pump tunnel you can feel and see is cracked and water comes in under full throttle, not really much comes in while around half throttle. but it seems like these SHOs have the same problem as the gpr's.good thing i noticed this befoe it got worse."

"I'm going to the FZR before the crack happens... this is a disappointing issue to stumble across after spending this kind of money on a new ski."
    http://greenhulk.net/forums/showthre...ck#post1022942

"We need to have a tunnel reinforcement party."
    http://greenhulk.net/forums/showthre...ty#post1023708

"Just after any input to see if anyone has had any issues with cracks in the FZ hulls. We have a guy here who's FZR hull cracked (quite big not hairline) all on port side of transom from pump up to hull join and down to side Yamaha are aware and will be checking the ski out this week so I have been told just wondering is this isolated? And no he was not abusing the hell out of the ski in the surf........ just a bit of playing around."

"I would like to inform everyone that where I am at United Arab Emirates in the middle east there are at least 3 incidents of FZR and FZS pump tunnel failure. Basically what happens is a crack starts right in the middle of the pump tunnel. Forum members in the USA have already researched this issue and found that this wouldnt happen on the FZR and FZS unfortunatly it is happening atleast over here."
    http://greenhulk.net/forums/showthre...+Arab+Emirates

"Well, it looks like the FZR and FZS is seeing the same pump tunnel stress the GPR's have seen for years. Its obvious too now that the pump tunnel reinforcement is a must-do modification for the FZR/S owner especially if modifications are going to be done."

"I have been riding my sho for six months now with mods and had a crack which caused flooding. My mechanic has fixed the crack and reinforced the tunnel. I am trying to get a better understanding of what he did and why."

"Hi all, a cousin of mine got FZR and he had a pump tunnel failure too. and i heard some other people talking about this issue too..."
