    Loctite 242 vs 243?

    I'm currently working on doing a wear ring swap and the 2008 Sea Doo shop manual says to use Loctite 243 on the pump housing bolts. I have not been able to find 243 anywhere, only 242. Has anyone else experienced this? And is it going to be an issue for me using 242 instead of 243?

    The only difference between the two is that 243 is oil resistant, you will be fine with 242 on the pump bolts.

    You can get the 243 at Grainger. Part # 3HPV8

    Yes.. this is true... kind of.

    The 242 is a med strength (115# Prevail Torgue, 53# Break) , and the 243 is Medium/High Stregnth (180# Prevail Torque, 62# Break).

    They are both general purpose thread lockers, however the 243 is recommended for bolts "with an oily film on them"

    There is also a viscosity difference in them.
