    Jeeps float!!

But only for about two minutes, then they go under. Saw it from the beach floating out. By the time I got there it went under in about 12 of water. Ended up perpendicular to the ramp in muck and got hung up on rocks. Took over an hour to get it out.

Under the front of the boat is the jeep, still hooked to the boat.

Damn man, you were lucky to see it in person. Really, how the hell does this happen? I mean is the Jeep RWD? I know its not a good idea to use a RWD vehicle at a boat ramp, why doesnt everyone else?

Guy said he backed in too far and a wave came and floated the rear and it started to roll in. When they pulled it out the brake was pulled but it didn't hold. Was a manual trans and wasn't in gear.

    Now That's Entertainment!

When you're feeling low, you can always go to the local boat launch, and watch the show. This is a universal reality. Boat launches attract big time trouble for those who are trailer skills challenged. Here at home, we don't use our regular launch on weekends (summer) because it's backed up 1-2 hours for "ramp mishaps". Instead, we use a nasty ramp (no waiting), also free, where no spazz could survive, so they don't dare go there.

They disconnected the trailer after the first failed attempt to yank it out. Yes, the trailer did end up getting messed up. It got hung up on the base of the ramp and it broke the u-bolts that hold the spring hangers on the frame. Didn't look too bad. Took a good 45 min to get that out. I left after they got it out but I heard they ended up loading the boat on a PWC trailer!!! The tires were bulging and springs bottomed. He's a local guy so he didn't have to go far. I should have stayed for those pics.

Damn that sucks. I was scared my Jeep would be taken in with my 21' boat. Sold the boat shortly after. Jeeps are great but not to tow anything over 17' safely.
