    Help!!! Impeller contacting SS wear ring...

    I need some help... I just installed a SS wear ring on my ski and now one blade of the impeller is rubbing hard against the SS wear ring... to the point that the motor is having a hard time turning over...

    What are people doing about this???
    I was thinking of taking the impeller off and grinding down the blade that is rubbing, is this the right thing to do??...

    is it just the tip of the blade? If so, you should measure them all, that one might be off (bent)!

    Sounds like something is bent a little to me.

    Be careful not to put it all out of balance at 8000 RPM, it will take its toll on the pump bearings.

    Sounds like I would get a new prop or have the orig looked at in a block.

    Im assuming that your talking about the pitch... I think you might be right.. there was a blade that had some rock damages... it very well could be that blade, that is rubbing.. Im gonna have to check tomorrow... Thanks BlackHawk

    Thanks for the tip... Im going to take the impeller off the ski tomorrow and measure it tomorrow.. a buddy of my's has the impeller pitch gauge

    Use a file to gently take off any high spots on the impeller.

    you might get away with it by bending it back so its even with the rest....I did this one time...added too much pitch.

    thanks everyone!!! problem solved, I used a permanent marker and color the edge of the impeller blade to find the high spots. then filed down the high spots and problem fixed....
