    2st Engine Paint?

Those who have painted their engines, does normal paint hold up or do you have to use heatproof?

I'd use hi-temp paint. I've done it to some car engines before and they've held up pretty well. I wouldn't use regular paint.

    Cheers.
I always use Engine Paint on the race engines I build, but was wanting to replicate the factory Kawasaki dark greyish colour.. no chance of getting that colour in engine enam or High temp though.

    Ahh well..

    Post engine paint

I'd use normal paint in the engines.

    And why not?
There are rubber exhaust couplers and water feed lines so the temps arn't THAT high.
I've build show cars for customers with expensive custom non heat proof paints on rocker covers etc and it has held up ok.. was concerned about the stinger more than anything.

The factory paint isn't that flash as most of it fell off when I put the engine parts in the dish washer (don't tell the Mrs!!)

Thats the way I would do it.....

Dont get me wrong, you can put latex wall paint, if that's what you want; but to make it last I personally would powder coat or high temp.
