Converting carb adapters to R&D Pro Lok
This was a kinda fun project that my buddy Steve and I did today. I got a set of Mikuni 40i carbs that were modded by GroupK, and had an unknown type F/A adapter on them. I picked up a super-cheap R&D Power Plenum F/A, but it turned out to be a Pro Lok setup, not compatible with the regular F/A adapters....
The Pro Lok's have this rib that should engage a groove on the adapter, holding the F/A in place without any hose clamps or other hardware. A nice system, but they don't sell the adapters for the 40i carbs, and not cheap to buy the other sizes either....
So we spent an hour on the lathe modifying the stock adapters to hold the Pro Lok setup.

Last time I used a lathe was in high school metalshop. I have 'almost' bought one many times... Just couldn't justify the price. But it seems that almost every project that I have done in the past 10 years or more would have been easier with a metal lathe.
