    Oil Cooler Water Temp

Can someone please tell me what the optimum water temp should be coming off the oil cooler to maintain the oil temp (200F)? at the factory recommended temp.

    Thanks in advance.

It doesn't have to be exactly the Factory Oil Temp. Just maybe the oil temp the experts agree we should be running.

For example, if i have 160f degree water coming off the oil cooler, how hots my oil?

    Thanks.

    Hey Rosco

I remember reading somwhere that the oil temp is usually 30 F higher than what the water temp is going through it.

So if your water temp going through is 170 F then your oil temp would be some where around 200 F.

    Good Luck.

Another thing is you just have to get the water temp going through the oil cooler to the same temp as what the water is in closed loop.

Just buy Motec mate and you can datalog it all.

Thats just what I thought. But I'm no expert!

So had my closed loop been running around 160f with my Riva Thermo housing upgrade, then 160f out of the oil cooler would be right, right?

Louis914 said that he sees 175 off the cooler and this put his oil in the 200 range, I just got a temp gauge and will be sorting my engine and oil temps soon as I have GIO issies that i thing are mostly down to tempreture, if it aint then its time to get that engine out I suppose. R88

I was. But I have put that down to the fact that I have got 70hrs on a race engine that has spent 80% of its life at WOT. Was running probably a bit on the lean side and my stocks rings have had a hard time.

I just want to be sure that when I put this thing back together i have all the bases covered. I am thinking about putting a thermo bomb off the oil cooler also to maintain a constant temp of water in the oil cooler.
