guys ive received an e mail from forum member "russ" informing me of a fault on the sho s/c shaft and he said there suffering from shaft problems and failures on the HKS units, his found an upgrade for the sho and the upgrade is $300 for a rebuild and a new shaft as well this upgrade offers a 15 hp gain i have searched HKS site and found nothing so have any of you got any info or is this just ball wash from a rxp/rxt rider trying to smear the good yamaha name

Does anyone know where he got this info from? or indded has anyone done this mod/upgrade

Both R&D and Riva have an upgraded shaft. Breaking is usually, but not always from over torquing when installing an upgraded SC wheel. On stock untouched ski's I personally have not heard of any shaft issues.

The only damage i have heard of is when it's over tight and breaks the thread part off or trying to loosen it normal direction but it has left handed threads and it breaks off.

i just received the R&D s/c shaft. it will be going on with a c3-11 monster wheel, pro-limited intercooler, R&D engine/intercooler cooling kit, along with a R&D fuel/boost controller.

Don't over tighten the nut and you won't have a need for a $300 replacement shaft. Just and FYI, e-tech also makes one for about $180. Not sure why it's so much cheaper but hey, it's another option.
