    baffle fuel float

Fixing the little gremlins in my 97XP namely the gas gauge not working, and took out the fuel baffle today. The magnets were there on the float but there was liquid in the float (gas more than likely). Should it be hollow with nothing inside of it?

If it is hollow am I safe to drill a small hole in it to get the gas out or how do I fix it?

    Thanks

Yes. You can try to JB Weld the float closed after you get the fuel out.

Drill slowly. A hot drill bit and gas is not an ideal situation.

Send us to the float parts store Krunch! As far as I know the fuel pickup/baffle is sold as an assembly.

I have always just walked into the local dealer and bought one.

It was one of the few parts I did not have to look up for the guys behind the counter.

The baffle/pickup is indeed a single unit, and rather pricey. But the float and the bottom inlet screen do not come with it, unless they have changed the way they sell it.

My float has fuel in it and in australia I couldn't find anyone who sells a float kit, thats why I wes going to fix it. Checked Parkeryamaha and they wanted $80 to send it to Australia so they can shove thatm obviously another Seadoo scam. Then I found one on ebay shipped to Australia only $25 so bought one of those, guess I will wait for a week or so and see if the new float fixes my zero read on the guage.

did you do the fuse bypass in the stickies also? if not, save yourself the trouble and bypass it now while you have it out.
