    Project 95 SLT 750 + begins

The project to revive an abandoned 95 SLT 750 that I picked up cheap/free a few months ago has officially began as of this past week with a thorough cleaning of the hull inside and out. Need to scrape off the old registration numbers, paint handlebar pad, replace the hydro turf and recover the seat. That's about all that needs done to the exterior. Do have some stuborn brown water stains in the footwell to get off.

The insides will get an update to a 780 engine with fresh crank, 71mm oversize pistons and matching bored jugs.

???? What if any cables/hoses should go under the engine mount? Pitot hose for speedo goes under? Red wire to starter? Mag wires?

A clean hull below starts the project.... (before, after wash and inside hull)

Looks like you need a rear grab bar.

If you manage to salvage the rear floor mat when you remove them, can I get it from you?

Must be my lucky day... A grab bar I salvaged from a 96 SL-780 fit the back of the 95 SLT like a glove, mounting holes too A coat or two a paint and all will be well.

Kevin, the old floor mats are long gone. Probably flew off when I towed it back from south louisiana!

Thats great to hear another SLT is recovering from sitting!

You will really love the way that ski rides. I have one. had it for almost 9 years now. Jumps instantly on plane, very stable, I fish off the back of it, huge storage, easy to wrench on, reverse is cool on it, it works!, holds 2 no problem, jumps waves nicely with a stable landing.ya never get wet on the darn thing!..it does huge slides and 360's going 45 mph! its a blast. you will like it!

And with a 780 going in there, thats a big bonus. maybe a little better top speed. mine does like 48 or 49 on its best days with the wind!. Right now mines doin 43.9,, not sure why,,, carbs probably..there dirty. i know it and the diaphrams are warped.

Should turn 6250 at WOT. I think once or twice I hit 6300. but just for a second.

Any bottom mods going on it? grate or plate?

I bet it would haul ass with a 1200 domestic in it. Hmmmmm Seen Beerdarts?

I have my steering cable under the engine plate. the ground comes off the back obviously, and the pitot tube runs under as well. Possibly the reverse cable too. I'd have to look n see. buts its all shrinkwrapped at the moment.
