Need Info on 2004 RXP Speed Sensor

I have a 2004 RXP that the paddle wheel on the speed sensor isnt spinning like it should. I need to replace it. The part on the ski is part #278001585, but I believe BRP has replaced it with part #278001993.

Can anybody confirm this ,and it will be compatible with my 04 RXP?

To replace the sensor, is it a simple process?, remove old sensor, plug in new one, screw new one on?

    Do I need a sealant?

    Thanks, Seadawg

Not sure on the part#s but I'm pretty sure they are all the same. You will need some right stuff or equivalent to seal it and it comes with no plug on it just the prongs. You will need to install your existing plug after feeding the wires through the hull.

where is the connection for the speed sensor? im not talking about the wheel on the back right, but where does that wire connect to on the ski?

Plug #2 is the lower left plug...... when unplugged you can see the terminal numbers. They count from 1 being at the bottom right.... right to left, bottom row up.

You need the correct tool to remove the wires from the plugs. The tool is a small metal tube that compresses the barbs on the connectors and they slide right out same tool works for the male and female pins. It's a standard GM tool / size that you can get at most auto stores for less than $10.
