    97 1050 - deal or no deal?

Found a 97 1050 in my area for sale. They are calling it an "XL 1050" but shouldn't that be "SL"? They say it lost topend speed this summer and a mechanic pulled the stator and told them it was bad and he couldn't get it any more. It has a clear Texas title and they are wanting $500. Deal or no deal?

    I believe it's actually a SLXH. And those weren't made until 98.

As usual see what the compression reading is, and if it's good, along with the crank condition, YES it's a deal!!!!!

You can get a new stator for around $300, or even see if Jetski solutions could rebuild the old one.

That would make a good ski for under a $G..... Nice !!!!!

You can purchase the entire Ignition System Upgrade Kit for around $300. That kit includes a new stator and CDI, both improved design and more reliable.

You can check the actual model year from the last two digits of the HIN number plate on the rear deck.

If it was near Chicago,it would be sold by now.

Usually the ignition stator causes it to back fire-missfire- die out-not start.

Loosing top speed,I suspect he's talking about the jet pump stator.
As the bearings wear out,the impeller will wear against the spacer ring and definetly lose mph.

Check the compression and bring it home.
