    Question Anybody using 2 batterys w/switch ?

I'm looking for ideals, thinking of installing a amp with new stereo and tower speakers and thought it might be a good ideal to add another battery. has anyone installed a battery switch in a sportster and does it cause any issues ? My sportster is a wake edition w/tower Thanks....

Yep, you'll destroy your cranking battery in no time, hooking an amp w/sub to it. I kept my setup simple... the stator still only charges the cranking battery and the deep cycle is just connected to the amp, but I have a switch that allows me to start the engine on either or both, if necessary. I just charge the amp's deep cycle battery, using a Battery Tender, when it's docked. The switch was a very easy install. For the second battery, try not to drill the screws through the outer hull like I did (there's not a lot of room between the two hulls there).

    Search for battery combiner.

Use a deep cycle battery for the audio equipment.

The combiner electrically links the two batteries only when the engine is running and already charging the main battery.

So both batteries get charged when engine is running, each taking what it needs. Neither battery will be over-charged.

When the engine shuts down, the combiner separates the second battery from the main system, and the main battery remains fully charged, ready to start the engine.

No battery switch to remember to set, the combiner works automatically to keep both batteries charged.

I recommend 2 batteries, I have experienced 1 dying while I was 30 miles from shore ---- scary!
