    94 750 Motor Pull

Had 2 broken motor mounts on the right side. Ordered 4 used ones from John Zigler. Finally got a chance to pull the motor and wanted to post pics. This ski haul has taken on salt water twice now and it's rusty. After the last time it took on salt water, I had to run another cable from the grounding point on the motor plate directly up to a mounting bolt on the starter. I'm glad I was finally able to pull this motor and see if I can get it cleaned up

    Piston Wash

I put the OP flame arrestors on and had adjusted the carbs without doing the rejetting. I put it a little more to be on the rich/safe side since I wasn't sure if the carbs were at stock settings. Center is RICH

    OP flame arrestors

The tops were eaten up by the salt . The insides of the tops are fine though. I guess I'll have to paint these or powdercoat them. Anyone done this before or have suggestions?

What do you guys think of the coupler splines?

    Reeds

The reeds were not missing any corners and looked to be good. The only thing I saw was 2 of the reeds seemed to be pulled back a little. Does this mean they are wearing out?

    Block & fuel pump

The block has some oil sitting in the bottom of it. If I move the motor around, a little comes out of the pulse line that goes to the fuel pump. I've read on here before that there isn't supposed to be any oil in the bottom of the cases. I read to take the plugs out and crank it till no more oil comes out of the top. I did this for this motor, but still see oil in the bottom.

I replaced all the fuel lines with the same type of line, including the pulse line. You can see the pulse line is much darker.

    Wink Heads

The heads all have the same brown pattern half way around the head. What causes that?

    Broken motor mounts

The right side motor mouts busted loose. The front had 9 shims of various thickness and the rear had 2. No other shims on the left side.

The throttle cable platic has broken half way down the cable.

EDIT: I later fixed this by wrapping a thin piece of cardboard around the cable. I butted the broken plastic cover up to each other. Then I used electric tape to keep it all together. This way the tape can't stick to the cable. We will see how it holds up. You can see a picture of the patch job in a later post of the hull cleaned up.
