There are a few things to do on a regular basis.
The following should be done after every ride.
Grease the PTO fitting-just a couple of pumps, do not overfill the boot.
Spray lube up into the pump and over the engine itself-a MUST for saltwater use.
Spray lube on all the cables-not the sheath, of course.
Run it for 15 seconds or so with a couple of blips of the throttle right after you pull it out of the water-blows excess water out of the exhaust.
Flush it on the hose-this is for saltwater use and Salt-a-way should be used in that case. If only used it fresh water than a couple of flushes per year should be ok as long as you are carefull about where and how you ride (that is, keep the mud and sand out of your pump and you will be ok-when in doubt, flush it).
The following should be done at least once a year.
Change the oil injection filter.
Change the pump oil.
Pull and clean the fuel filter/water seperator.
Change the spark plugs-NGKs all the way.
Trim back the spark plug wire ends-ONLY if there is an issue with performance.
I would suggest getting both an Owner's and a Shop manual for that year model and be sure that you are clear on EXACTLY how to do each procedure (particularly flushing, a LOT of guys have trashed thier boat on the hose so remember Engine on-Water on, Water off, Engine off).
