    coolant leaking

I changed my coolant the other day. I did everything according on the how to section here. So simple a monkey could do it. It's been about 4 days now and I have a small pool of coolant under my ski. Drain plug is in right so I don't know what the problem is. It just started leaking today.

    Any ideas?

Is the washer on the bolt? Did you use some permatex on the bolt?

If not leaking from drainage bolt, then might be leaking from the bolts that hold the rideplate together.

Most leaks that you see in the winter will not leak in the summer.

I did not know there was a washer on the drain plug. I could check that. Why would the bolts that hold the ride plate on leak now? There were not touched and did not leak before I changed the coolant.

there is a brass/copper sealing washer on the bolt (plug)
    on the rideplate.
I Always put a little teflon paste on the threads before I put
it back in place. Don't overtighten it !!! Steel into aluminum....

I just know that I have seen a rideplate leak at those bolts in the winter when cool and the silicone shrinks and leaks.

If there leaking there you will see it.

When I took the drain plug thewre was no washer or anything. Maybe it came out with the coolant. How do you guys do this? Do you put the plug in before you replace the coolant or after it starts comming out the hole?

I put the plug in, add coolant. I unscrew the plug a bit to get all the air out of system. Not sure if that has to be done, but that is the way I doo it.

I changed mine this winter as well. I pour coolant in until it makes a solid stream out of the drain hole. While it is streaming, I put the plug back in.

What line do you guys fill it too? Top, bottom or in the middle? Obviously I'll check it during my first ride to see if any air escaped.
