I have. Just take it slow and don't weld too much at a time. There's a rubber seal in the ride plate that you don't want to melt.

    welding

welding skegs on your ride plate while being mounted on your ski is something i would not do at all. the plate gets very HOT when welding. i always remove the top plate and rubber gasket from the ride plate when welding skegs... then re-seal all bolts & rubber gasket with sealent to asure there will be no leaks.

I know it can be done, but if it goes wrong, you will have to take it off, and repair the damage.

I would err to safe, but then you never get anywhere being Mr Safe.

Its a coin flip in my estimation.

What about a couple of tack welds??..I will be putting them on Mrs.Snos Rideplate with marine epoxy and was thinking of a couple of small tack welds for a little more strength..

I was thinking of tacking mine on like Snoman said. But Maybe it is a bad idea. How hard is it to seperate the plates? Can it be done without dropping the whole rideplate? I mean if its gotta be dropped might as well go open loop with a riva plate.
