    Opinions on 4" air intake

I finally am running a 4" air intake with the SC adapter. My question is how r most of u guys running this setup? are u guys running mostly rear intakes?, up to the front hood?, and r u guys running it with filters or just open air? i have the hose in and all just wondering how i should set it up since i ride in choppy water but dont really want to run a filter but don't want to suck up water either. thanks Justin

I run mine up to the front. I poked a little hole in it so that I was able to ziptie it to that metal bracket just under the handle bars. The metal bracket used to hold the front snorkle, but I removed that long ago. I run no air filter. I've had the font completly under water with no problems with water injestion. But with the snorkles all gone and the air intake so high I don't dare tip the thing over.

I cut holes in the storage basket and cut some of the plastic under hood support away. In 100+ heat I have no heat fade and run 8150 all day every day.

Here is our set up! We ride in Ocean all the time and have not had any problems with the water entering the filter. We use a 4" K&N and it is all Steel Gauze material so it breathes excellent.

Here is the Front snorkle modified! Disregard the VTS as this pc of plastic was used just to fill in the tube.

Some guys remove the complete Snorkle but we ride in big swell and oceans so we dont take any risks and use the above combination.

I was thinkin about that.and my thought was the sock that comes with the riva filter. That material over the front and rear vents still lets air in and out but stops the water coming in.Whats your opinion?

Give it a try! We just experimented until we found a winning combination.

Regarding the 4" tube, I assume this has to be heat rated? A dumb question I know, but I was just curious what everyone has been using for the 4" tube.
