    SL 1050

    Hi from New Zealand
I bought a sl1050 in very good condition with rebuilt motor and unit last week. Its been sitting for 2 years but seems too run pretty good.
ive put a new battery in it and it goes fine (small miss under load), but the LCD display is completely dead.
Any ideas what could be wrong?

do i pull the whole electric box to bitts or is it where the little wires go in the top?
Can the dash be replaced with normal guages and the motor be set up to run with out the box? The reason i ask is that i intend to use the running gear in a small boat eventually

    Welcome to the Hulk
Best place on the Internet for Polaris PWC information.

I take it you are re-powering a similar hull, not the one in the photos.

The electrical box is held together with a handful of small bolts around the perimeter. Remove the bolts, and the box splits into two halves. Make sure it is dry inside, no moisture or corrosion.

The MFD display is powered by a 1/4 Amp fuse. Do not replace it with a larger fuse.

There may also be a 3 Amp fuse for the bilge pump in there.

The display is not required to run the engine. On some engines, the MFD can invoke RPM limit if fuel or oil gets low, but otherwise the display is just for your information.

You can replace it with another of the same type, or even the larger MFI type display from the Virage or Genesis models. With some tinkering, even the MSX 140 display can be fitted.

    Multi-Function Display (MFD)

    Cool, thanks for that info.
The boat in the photos is exactly the same hull I intend to buy. They've made afew of them now and they go real good.
