    Steering Adjustment

    I got a nozzle pointed slightly right when holding the bars straight. Read thru the factory service manual and it says to adjust the nozzle at the spring loaded joint at the top of the nozzle deflector.

    On my ski, 00' GP1200R, the measurements are:
    a= 92mm 8=82mm

    So I know I need to turn the adjustment out to make up for the 5 mm which should give me equal spacing when going from one steering lock to the next.

    Here is my problem, I dont think I know how to turn the adjustment barrel at the end on the spring. I can see the outer part rotating around the inner part with the hole that goes over the ball joint.

    I dont wanna use a pliers and risk destroying the spring loaded joint. Any help would be appreciated.

    I adjust mine at the steering nozzle. You have to remove the linkage that goes into the nozzle, then loosen the jam nut, turn the linkage either in or out the desired amount, reverse steps and measure again.

    My problem is how to turn the end of the spring loaded clip. I am assuming that you have to turn the inside where the ball goes into the joint. For some reason I am having little success.

    Will press on and hope not to break anything in the process.

    Bex,

    It sounds as if you are adjusting the nozzle trim (top to bottom adjustment).

    If you want to adjust side to side, then follow OsideBill's suggestion at the steering cable. Turn the adjuster 1 full turn in or out and find the results, then go from there.
