    What revs are safe?

I'm trying to find out what revs are safe for various mods.
E.g. If I got my ecu flashed to 8300 rpm is stock everything ok? Is 8400 rpm the titanium retainer limit and is 8600 rpm valvetrain upgrade material? I'm only worried about engine stuff obviously the impeller will need repitching as well as.

Les Cooke retainers by themselves are good to 8650 RPM. No need to change valve springs.

I agree but if you have lots of hours on stock springs you may want too consider getting new ones as they do weaken over time. I was in the same dilemer and felt it woul;d be better to just go with the riva kit as they are matched springs and a well proven setup. Def safe to 8650 although some are running them much higher. I am also wondering on this subject.

When is "time" to change out stock springs.

    100 hours, 150, 200 ??

I am going to go with at least the Les Cooke retainers,
but don't want to do the job twice.
Have reflash ecu at 8340 and at 100 hours, only 50 on
    higher rpms.

Well I was going to replace the springs in my motor when I was going to go to 8650 at 120 hours.

When you say your reflash is 8340 is that what the rev limiter is set to or what the revs to in the water??

I would be very carefull with any re-flash and no valvetrain mods as I have seen a stock class motor drop 2 valves here in UK as he was runnimng a 8400 ecu in LTD but not allowed retainers due to stock rules. They rev alot harder than the limiter when coming unhooked at wide open throttle.

If I were you I would just go with the Riva Kit they are much better springs and are all matched to give equal pressure on all valves which is something you wont get with stock springs and Les retainers.

There are allot of those kits out thgere and you never hear of any failures. R88

8340 is the "hard" limiter.. nothing ever above this.
    Usually runs about 8280 ..
GH assured me this rpm is fine for stock springs

I just wanted a little extra insurance with Ti retainers.

Just wanted to know the useful life of the stock springs.
I think the Riva Kit may be a little overkill.. don't want
to run more spring pressure than have too. Seems that
would be a little harder on the valvetrain.
