Fuel rail insert replacement
So I stripped the fuel rail insert in my GTI last year, and didn't realize until I went to winterize this year. I tried some tricks from some members to get it to tighten back up. Mine was beyond help. They don't sell the inserts seperate. I finally got around to getting on McmasterCarr to find something. I found a brass insert replacement. They are notched and spread apart when you put the bolt in. They are made to replace inserts from molded plastic. It won't tighten down to the 89inch/lb per the manual, it will just keep spinning. But because it spreads apart a little, there is no way it will pull out at all and will tighten the rail flush. It works great. I tried screwing it out once, and it bites enough in the hole to back out. Great fix that is way cheaper than a $600 manifold. They do not come flanged (like the OEM ones) in the thread size needed, but that isn't an issue. I have some left over, so if someone wants one shoot me a PM. I will just drop it in an envelope for you.
