    Custom SHO Exhaust

I'm hoping to have a custom exhaust for the SHO finished this week which will address the drone issue and maintain performance.

I was interested to know if there is any reason why the Riva FF Exhaust is 4" in diameter? Just seems to be overkill.... Could this be reduced to say 3" or 3"1/2 without effecting performance?

    Once done, I'll post pic's.

    Thanks

Because it matches the size of the outlet in the water box. You don't want to neck it down and put a bottle neck in the system. BTW, stock exhaust size is 3.5" not 4"

It affect performance. I haven't gone back out with a GPS to see exactly how much but I do notice a definite decrease in accel. But I did also add a taller prop (I went from modded stocker to a 13/22R), I don't hear it hitting the limiter on hole shots. Maybe the taller prop has something to do with this????

That being said the restrictor place is completely removable (probably a 5-10 minute job) which means I can always remove it if need be.

The decrease in accel and whatever on top doesn't mean that much to me as I'm a 95% rec rider. The few times that I will go out to race I will take it off. Not having as much drone almost makes me forget about the loss of perfofrmance. If the tables were reversed and I was 95% a racer, I would leave it off.

My next mod is to add an air filter to try and gain back the couple RPMS I believe I lost with the restrictor plate.

I'm waiting on final costings for the custom exhaust. but indicative numbers are scary.... Depending on whether I go for a S/Steel resonator casing or carbon fibre, it's looking somewhere in the range of AU$800 - AU$1,000!!!
I would probably be prepared to pay this if it was GUARANTEED it would get rid of the drone, but unfortunately they have not made such an exhaust and therefore could not give any indication on how effective it would be.

    Frustrating!
