Happened about 45 min. ago. Shook my house on it's foundation. This is going to be big and bad!!!!

    http://www.courant.com/community/mid...,2838001.story

Anyone else in the area feel it? How about you Steve? (Beerdart) They're saying as far away as Hamden and Wallingford. It's going to be a catastrophe.

Art, I shit you not. Im in West Haven. I heard a faint rumble in the distance that sounded like thunder and the cat jumped. I wondered what the hell it could have been.

    Im prob 20-30 miles away.

NRG’s Middletown Generating Station, situated beside the Connecticut River in the Maromas section of Middletown, CT, is the largest fossil-fueled electric generating plant in the state. Currently the plant produces 770 megawatts (MW) of electricity, enough to power over 600,000 homes. NRG acquired the station from Connecticut Light & Power Company in December 1999. Now, GenConn Energy, a 50-50 joint venture between NRG and The United Illuminating Company, is constructing four 50 megawatt (MW) dual-fueled combustion turbines—enough to power more than 160,000 additional homes—under a 30-year power contract with Connecticut Light & Power Company. Because they are fast-start “peaking” units, they will be used when energy demand is the highest, helping to moderate electricity costs in this transmission-constrained area. NRG expects to break ground in February 2010 and have the new units online by June 2011. Middletown’s power is currently sold to the Independent System Operator – New England (ISO NE).
