    Then there was no POWER.........

    Hi all ,

    I was out on my ski yesterday and I was cruising at around 80k's , and my ski motor was sounding louder and louder. Been 30mins away from where I droped in I turned around. My ski was cavertating and the motor was getting louder. I hit a little wake then .............................. No power......

    It was like the supercharger just feel of the ski. The motor was still running but under acceleration there is nothing. I got to 50's @ 5,000rpm all the was back to the port.

    Rung my dealer and dropped it right off , they where really good!!!

    Has this happened to anyone else??? , my ski's only done 24.5hours and this has happened and its still stock..........

    Not going over 5K rpm's sounds like a SC shaft. But why the cavitation and extra noise?

    Interested in hearing what the dealer says.

    I think it was something to do with the S/C , I ordered my C3 monster shalf a week ago!!! Must be karam!!

    The extra noise was really loud!!! , but like I said I had to get back to port to get it out of the water.

    Now when firing it up , it sounds like it has a hole in the exhaust or something like that.....weird!!!! even with only 24.5hours on the clock!!!

    I will be standing by the phone waiting for the call.

    Check for something on the shaft or on impeller and check all hoses on the S/C.

    The same thing in other words will porobably be said over and over...

    I do remember I when it started making extra noise , I gave it full throttle and it would sit on 7500rpm @ 100k's only. Thats when I knew something was wrong......

    I blew my sc hose off first 5 hours. Check that , sounds about the exact rpm the ski will run with no boost/

    they said its the first time they have seen them gone on a FZR.

    Ahhh. RPM's have nothing to do with pump bearings failing. But, if your pump bearings are shot, that's nothing new either and I believe your stealer is full of chit if they say it's only the first time they've seen it.

    There is a yamaha service up date about a new prop and prop washer on the fzr/fzs. IMO this washer bent destroying the seal behind it and allowing water get in to the bearings causing the failure.
