    ultra 250 gps mount

Im looking at a couple of options for mounting my gps, either on the glove compartment lid or the handle bar. Which is a better option? I have a garmin etrex. How big is the glove compartment gps mount? WIll I be able to open up the lid with the gps in the mount or should I go for the hadle bar setup?

    I like my choice

I used a quick disconnect Garmin Marine mount. It comes
with a 3 screw hole flat disc that permanetly mounts on the
flat silver surface of the left cowling. I then put a SS split
ring mounted under hood. Attach lanyard there in case it
comes off mount. That's saved me a GPS a couple of times
    offshore.

Which etrex do you have? If you have one of the color series etrex's I have an extra mount you can have.
Mounting to the glovebox lid works fine. You will have no problems opening the lid. I was going to go that route but changed my mind and decided to go with the handlebar mount. I just really didn't want to drill holes in the lid just in case I changed gps's in the future.

I have the yellow one. But im with you the other dilemma is im not certain if I would like to drill holes in the glove box lid, im alos concerned I wont be able to mount the bracket flush becuase of the contured shape of the lid.

    no problem

The disk is only about 1/4" high with a round 2" knob that secures
the holder that goes on the GPS. All of this is way lower than anything
around it. I used a cover all the time. This is the beauty of the
mount, quick disconnect from boat. When its hot I also take it off
the mount and swing it into the storage compartment with laynard still
attached to split ring. Out of sun and prying eyes!

personnal choice but you cant go wrong with one of these a must do is attach a safety lanyard i just use one of those small phone/camera coil types and clip it onto a rubber o-ring which is between the start/stop and gps.
