    Will it be available to purchase in High Definition, or just DVD format?

    DVD is only regular definition, there is no such thing as a high definition DVD. Blu-Ray is HD, DVD is not.
    (HD-DVD doesn't count anymore)

    It appears that this was shot in High Definition, but will be produced/released in standard definition. Standard resolution is what we will see when we watch it, even on our HDTV.

    While I enjoyed the PWCoffshore LB2CAT DVD, it is also standard DVD definition, despite also being shot in HD.

    I have pre-ordered Rise of the Tide, and own the LB2CAT DVDs.

    If a genuine HD version of this was available, even for a higher price, I would purchase it. Not only is HD resolution much higher than DVD, but fast motion and water textures in HD can look a lot clearer.

    just a mix up of terms. it's "higher definition" than say a video tape. It's probably 720. 1080 would be nice but I guess it would be pretty expensive?

    DVD and High Definition are separate things. That is why Blu-Ray came along.

    The DVD will be 480i (interlaced video), or possibly 480P (Progressive at 24 or 30 frames per second).

    My guess is that it will be 480i, which is the DVD standard for video.

    It wont be 720 or 1080, i or p.

    The LB2CAT DVD shows the following (summarized) info using VLC media player;
    Resolution 720x480
    Frame rate 30 frames per second

    That is standard DVD resolution. The LB2CAT was actually very good in terms of video quality for a DVD, but it is not HD.
