    Cyl. Boring

I have std. bore cyls. on a 94 slt740, & Im doing a top end job!. My question is do I just order .5 over pistons, or do I have the machinist tell what size to get?
    Thanks Brian

how bad is the scoring? If you get .5 over pistons and take them and the shop with the cylinders. they cna match them up

    boring

I thought that I was going to get away with just honing. But upon further exam, I found a problem on bottom portion of cyl. Its on the exaust side about 1 in. up from bottom. Thanks for the info. Thats what I will do, just take pistons & cyls. to machinist.
    Thanks again

post a clearer pic. that far down on the cylinder wall will not effect compression. you might get minor blow by into the crank case on the downstroke

Unfortunately this one wasn't much better. Does your camera have a Macro setting, you know the icon with a flower on it? If it does, put it in that mode before taking the close up and you should get a better picture. Also, make sure it's well lit. Sometimes in low light conditions the autofocus will get real screwy.

Safeest bet is to take the cyls to the machine shop first. Let them figure out how large oversize you will need to go.

Good call. They can also measure the bore taper and account for any necessary oversize for that.

Some of them even have a super-macro mode. (My Canon does)
