Lifeguards rescue PWC rider off Ft. Lauderdale today
OK, which one of you offshore animals was this?
Lifeguards rescued a man off Fort Lauderdale Beach Park after he was hurt in a personal watercraft accident Monday, a fire official said.
A personal watercraft with two people onboard hit a wake that caused it to roll over, injuring its 23-year-old male driver, said Fire Rescue spokesman Matt Little. The other person wasn't hurt.
Lifeguards Robin Lehman and David Difilippo saw the accident at about 11 a.m. and used paddleboards to reach the injured man, Little said.
The man, whose name paramedics didn't release because of medical privacy laws, was taken to Broward General Medical Center. He is expected to be OK, Little said.
When the accident occurred, the watercraft had been riding near another personal watercraft. But the two did not collide, Little said.
