    RXT 215 Vs. RXT-X

    Considering getting a new sea-doo. I have a 2007 RXT 215 and absolutely love it, but at the boat show there are good deals on the 09 X 255, the 2010 RXTX is my fav model by far but a lot of cash. So, my main question is the difference in speed. Is it worth trading in my 215 and a few grand for a 255. Is the speed difference that much or not too different??Thanks for any info.

    I have both, both have Riva Stg1, RXT best speed 69.5 gps, RXTX best speed so far 72.5 gps, if you buy a RXTX you need to have the pump tunnel reinforced.

    Not on the new S3 hull.

    well i would have it just bone stock...is the 255 really that much quicker than the 215 all looks aside or is it not that big of a difference to spend a few grand on with a trade in

    Yes, the X models are "that much quicker" than the 215s. It just comes down to the the money for the difference and that is entirely up to you.

    I upgraded from 06 215s to 08 255s and loved it. I thought it was a noticeable differnce. Dollars and cents wise it was probably foolish. But so is this sport as a whole!

    No doubt, as you can see from the 2008 photo above, the hole shot will be better on the stock X model... top end about the same. But as mentioned, we have several members with serious pump tunnel failures on the 08-09 RXT-X models, so that would be a concern for me. It would be interesting to see a stock shootout between an 09 RXT-X and a 2010 RXT-X.

    Guess I should have been a little more clear. I have a 2008 RXTX and the pump tunnel had to be reinforced on it. On a 2010 RXTX the jury is still out on the pump tunnel. The hull is a fairly new design so who knows. As far as stock, the main difference I noticed was acceleration. The RXTX has trim so that helped lot. Top speed was only about 2mph difference.

    The other thing you are going to get on the 2010 RXT-X is Sea-Doo's exclusive braking system, and the ability to calibrate your acceleration curve on the water; including a "sport mode" setting for performance and a fuel saver setting that's supposed to provide as much as 50% better fuel economy at cruising speeds.     I'm still not sure exactly how much storage is offered with the 2010 RXT-X; I think there is some conflicting info being published on that with regard to liters vs. gallons.

    Take it from a yamaha guy rxt-x no doupt. acceleration ,top speed , looks everything ( that steering does it for me).

    thanks for the help guys, i just dont know if i can pull the trigger...i really like the looks of the 10 X the best of any ski ive seen, but i would have to trade in my 2007 RXT and probably another 5 thousand-ish
