Broke 5 supercharged belt in the last 8 months
I'm posting on the behalf of my friend. He got a 260X..the problem is, he broke something like 5 supercharge belt in the last 8 months. Did anybody here have a similar problem? We usually go offshore and it's pretty annoying to tow him.
Oh btw, his ski is pretty much stock, he only got a R&D intake grate and the 1 degree nozzle wedge kit.

his alignment is probably off from the first time he replaced a belt and subsequent belts keep on breaking due to the alignment being off

Thanks for the feedback. Do you recommand use to change his pulley for an aftermarket one like a R&D ? Could it solve his problem ? Is it possible to check the alignment ? If so any tips ?

Where are you located and are the people installing new belts doing it with the proper tensioner?
On a new 260 it seems odd that the belt alignment would be off. You are probabaly loosing belts do to wrong tension.
Belt shredding is too loose and belt snapping or one break is too tight.

It's weard since the person who works on his ski also has a 250 and never broke any belt yet. Donno a lot about 260X, I'm a FX SHO user trying to help a friend. Thanks for your feedback

I guess its alignment or wrong tension.
In case it happens again no need to tow him , just remove the hose between S/C and I/C.

I heard this fix too of removing the hose between the supercharger and intercooler.
This hose just transports air, correct? (With the winter months I havent seen my ski in a while and can not recall)

Its not a fix, Just do this in an emergency situation, so you can get the ski back on the trailer. You will have no boost, but you can still run the motor. The reason you would remove the hose in the first place is because when the belt breaks, the super charger is not turning anymore. If it does not turn, no air will get to the motor. (Air will not pass thru a non turning super charger.)
