Cool Cavation of pump on reflashed ECU's

As more and more guys report there results with the reflash of there ECU's everyone seams to complain about a excessive amount of cavation. I have come to the conclusion that what Yamaha has done is kept the timing setting very low in the lower rpm ranges to act like TRACTION CONTROL to keep the prop cavation to a minimum. When R&D reprogramed these ecu's for the best performance the enging could produce the timing was re adjusted more advanced on the lower rpm ranges giving these engines a lot more tork down in the lower rpm ranges, causing a lot more prop blowout/cavation. With more power comes more problems that have to be delt with! No doubt this cavation problem will be delt with by larger and better props/pumps. I am just trying to help everyone understand whats going on here. Tommy Jordan

Tommy, your conclusion is spot on. There is actually no advanced timing all thru the RPM range on the stock ECU. Just goes to show you how detuned this motor actually is.
