    Reverse Lights

Has anyone every changed out their 4 way to a 5 way to add reverse lights for their trailer? I would like to add two white LED flush mount lights at the back of course on the trailer below the ski spaced about 6" apart. If memory serves me correctly from the tow vehicle the reserve lights wire is purple. I know I can change this out with a 5 way, but do they make a 5 way to add a reverse or do I just need to use the blue wire that is added to the 5 way for trailer breaks and use that as the wire to go to the reserve lights instead of using it for trailer breaks? I don't use nor will I ever add trailer brakes.

    -Thanks

i have not. when i pull with the Dakota the tail lights up when i put in reverse because it is the dodge wired the 4 pin. but why would you want to have the lights light up in reverse any way? you should disconnect them before you go in the water. but that is just my 2 cents

This would come in handy when you come home an are parking your trailer at night.

Kory the lights I have on the trailer now are LED submersible lights. and the reverse lights I would put on it are LED submersible lights. So you don't have to disconnect when you launch.

Kirk, EXACTLY! that is one reason I want to do this. Also I don't ride at night, but I might not put it back on the trailer until after the sun as gone down. Might have at the marina in the slip or something and it would make it easier to back down the ramp when you can see.

I am referring more to the trailer and not the tow vehicle. Do you have reverse lights on your trailer?

Thanks RX, I have seen those before. I was looking more for something for the back of the trailer for the idiots at the ramp to know that I am backing up and not looking at the truck and I am submerge in the water. Some of the ramps are not lighted well.

I am keeping that open as an option.

yes i do. my taillights on the trailer light up in reverse. just get some off road lights and mount them backwards on your truck and turn them one when you need to back up. just a thought.

Truck has a cargo light stock on the back. I need something for the TRAILER.

Are you running a 4 way or 7? Can you get a picture of your trailer?
