    Stiff Steering!!!

08 Ultra 250 X Almost 2 years old. Ski sat up for 2 months and now the steering is a little on the stiff side. Checked rear end and all is well there. Keep ski in garage all time and use it exclusively in salt water. Rinse every time when used. Is the cable going bad and is it under extended warranty? Thanks, Kevan

More than likely it's the cable. From what I'm told the cables aren't that great and were updated in 2010. Warranty "may" cover it but I think it really depends on your dealer. Personally, the upgraded cable is like $75 and I'd do it myself if it were mine.

Don't waste time lubing the cable. It won't fix the problem on Ultra. It would be band-aid at the most. Your cable is probably corroded and became sticky between inner cable and outer sheath. Replace it with a new one like someone said.

before you do any of the above you need to establish if it is in fact the cable that is rusted or the neck dried out. as going by the respones some of us have experienced both issues.
