    Recommendation for prop?

    I am running a 2007 C180 215hp with these mods:

    Sea Doo X Model Supercharger
Ford Racing Bosch 42 pound Fuel Injectors M-9593-F302
    Fizzle 4" air intake kit
Groco Water Strainer Kit For Intercooler
    Homemade Catch can
    Modded stock waterbox

I have a 13/18 Solas and a SS wear ring.

Took it out today and everything ran great. Unreal difference in thrust from plane (~25mph) to 45 or so. I saw 8050 rpm during a plane to 45 period.

So the midrange is nice. I did not have a gps with me so I did not worry too much about measuring top speed.

However, if I give it 1/2 throttle or so from a dead stop or 5 mph coast, I just spin the 13/18 and go nowhere. Does not shake the boat like I felt before when cavitating after sucking up a rock and screwing up the impeller and plastic wear ring...but it is definately not really moving the boat forward.

Most of my boating is going to be from 0-25 and maybe some extended cruising in the 40mph range. I really just want the prop to hook up from a dead stop and through the mid range.

if I loose a couple MPH up top...not a huge deal.

Breon recommended a 3 blade skat...but I am not sure how that would work in a big pig of a single engine boat.

anyone with similar mods care to share their prop of choice? Please keep in mind that in about 6 months...I am planning on an external intercooler, rrfpr and thru-hull exhaust.

Jim, you are way under pitched with that 13/18.

The 15/20R is the prop you need for those modifications

It will also work well with your future mods, just add some pitch to the trailing edge. I can help you with this once it's time.

This thread also supports what Jerry is recommending as well. you can compare the modes people are running and their speeds.

What better advice could I get? The master himself weighs in!

Thanks Jerry. I was a bit concerned that the HUGE weight difference between the skis and my challenger 180 would change the prop recommendation.

The 13/18 just spins like crazy

I will be ordering up the 15/20

Although some will argue I can confirm that with a jet drive the weight of the craft makes very little to no difference in impeller selection.
I have less mods than what you plan and I can spin the crap out of a 14/19R at +2mm.

Where do you think you are with your mods as far as horsepower?

I've tried two different 3-bladers over the years through my mods, 14/19 and 15/19, I believe, and each time I quickly went back to a 4-blade. To me, the almost imperceptible acceleration gain didn't make up for the big loss in top speed. I think you'll find 3-blade fans are running 8500+ rpms.

Thanks man. Good to hear someone with experience with 3 and four blade props weigh in.

I know your boat has a different hull and is 500 lbs, or so, lighter, are you also of the opinion that a 15/20R is the way to go?
