    Pro 1200 Questions.

First I will say howdy since this is my first post on here...

I've had a few Polaris skis over the years (SLX 1050, 97 Pro 785, 00 Pro 785) and currently an MSX 140 and Virage TX. The MSX has been in the family since new and I picked up the Virage last year for a steal and gave it to my folks for a second ski as a gift since their 1996 sea doo GTI finally died after being beat like a rented mule since 96. Funny side note: It had an amazing amount of hours and was still on the stock top end until I sold it as a project last summer.

I will get to the point... I have not had a "personal" ski in 8 or 9 years and a 2000 Pro 1200 fell into my lap on saturday as a trade-in for an absolute steal. Bone stock in excellent shape with 65 hours on it.

I would like to mod it slightly for some more pep without a huge loss in reliability. My Pro 785s had tons of mods and seemed to eat pistons. This one is not going to be a race boat. Something for me to play on and let my friends ride.

Since I got it home I put some Renthal Bars (also UMI finger throttle I still had) on it and put the MFD in the glove box lid.

    What i was thinking:
    V-Force Reeds.
    Maybe Flame Arrestors?
    Beach House Sponsons

    Few Questions I had...

What kind of jetting recomendations would you give for v-force and f/a?
What is the advantage of the "tripple pissers" I keep seeing?
What other mods should I consider?

    Thanks,
    Trey

    Thanks for the responses,

Ive been searching around on here for the last few days. I believe I might have answered my own question about the triple pissers that they are usually found on the boats with triple pipe.

    Few More Questions:

Does hot seat still make heads for polaris? If so, could I stay within the realm of reliable with an HS head? Both of MY 785s had aftermarket heads but they were race gas only and not exactly reliable.

Thanks again for the help everyone,
    Trey

How much money do you want to put into this project?

Increased compression will buy you some power.

Porting the cylinders will buy you more power.

Boring the engine to a larger displacement will buy you some more power.

Tuned triple exhaust pipes (rare, but findable) will significantly boost power, but require careful carb tuning.

Appropriate combinations of the above will of provide the maximum results.

Other than boring for larger displacement Ive gone the porting and pipe route before... I was trying to keep this ski a little simpler so my buddies can beat on it. I dont really have a spending limit in mind but, this is one of several toys so I am not going to devote my life savings to it.

    My tenative plan is:

    V-force Delta Reeds
    Sponsons of Some Variety
    Flame Arrestors
    Intake Grate
Seat Cover (Jet Trim or Hydro Turf assuming they still make one for a pro)

Im still kicking around the head idea... Since Ive never put a head on a 1200 motor and I can't seem to find much info. Anyone know a good resource I can look for as far as what used to be available that I can try to find used or if anything is still being produced. Would prefer to stick with pump gas.

    Thanks,
    Trey

    Holeshot and Reliability...
Like I said it will be a play boat but that shouldn't mean I can't make it a little faster..
