Parasitic draw 02 GTX RFI
I sold my 02 GTX RFI to a friend a year or so ago, and he called and said it wasnt charging. He replaced the battery and rectifier and fixed the charging problem. Now if the boat sits for any extended periods, the battery goes down. I havent checked how many amps, but he is sure something is draining the battery.
Anyone had this problem ?

What has been common on most of these models on these models that I have seen is an electrical load on the battery during storage, caused by a control module monitoring the lanyard socket. If the lanyard is left installed the electrical drain is 18mA after 10 minutes of shutting down the engine. If the lanyard is removed, the electrical drain is still 7mA.
These electrical loads are continuous and can accumulate to be significant over time. At 18mA, the battery will lose 1.0AH of capacity in 55.5 hours or 10.0AH in 23 days. On a PC625 GEL Oddyssy for example, 10 Ah is 59% of battery capacity.
Solution – for Sea Doo watercraft always disconnect the lanyard from its socket when not riding the watercraft. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery when the watercraft will not be used for 3 weeks or more. A simplified method of disconnect is to install a waterproof battery switch.

Or an even easier solution is to hookup a battery tender when the ski is not in use. The battery will stay charged and the ski ready whenever you want to use it.
