    Modded my intake grate R-12x

I'm thinking this will help out my R-12x off the line ( I removed bars 2 and 4)... especially after I install my Solas 17/29 too!

I can't wait for it to get a little warmer...

I need to convince the wife I need an alpha boost kit now...

I know polishing my plate won't do much, but I love the way bowsnipers plate looks. However I want to fill the ride holes but somehow I don't think JB-Weld and polished aluminum would look to trick.

    Thumbs up

A word of advise to you. I have been working on pwc's modding them for 20+ years use extream caution when you test any intake grate you do mods to. I havehad a ski turn sideways at 60+ mph all of a sudden with out any warning after modding the intake grate and another ski broke the intake grate not long after i cut two bars out, my info comes from working on yamaha skis'. I saw your post and just wanted to advise you use extream caution. Tommy Jordan

Tommy, you got me all spooked now! j/k, I appreciate the advise. I've had two left shoulder surgeries and don't want to have a third...

Any recomendations on how to test "safer"? Luckliy I'm on a stock honda and will be lucky to see 62mph... with a tail wind.

I am trying to get rid of all my cavitation out of the hole.

The problem is that these modded grates will not give you any warning in advance everything seems to be going ok then boom your in the water wondering what the heck happened. Just because your not going 80 you can get tossed at 50 just as quick. Use good safety gear have a extra ski with a good support person standing by JIC test in a smooth water and give your self plenty of open water to test in (not close to other skis/boats/docks) . Hopefully you want have any problems , I just wanted to give you some advise from my past experiance. Tommy Jordan

when tommy speaks it's best to listen.

although i will say that lots of not so informed honda owners have already time tested this mod and by sheer luck found it safe. Not like the scary xlt stock grates. Some say its good, some not. For cav, i think you'll need to go to a new prop. Stocker sucks big time, imo.

I've modded my intake and got a solas 17/29 that I'm installing...

So Davman you've heard of people being sucessful with this? The pump cone was a pain to get off.

I know Tommy knows his stuff, I try to read most of his posts!
