Warning Cheap China Crank Mag Bearing

Here is a pic of a big cheap mag bearing from China. This was used on a Riva Stage 3 T/W crank. Look how the bearing retainer fingers have broken off. Pieces went through and took a piston out. Cylinder had to be renicked. The head also had damage from the little metal pieces.

Don't go cheap on this bearing.....too much at stake.

    Hard to say

The ski has been through a few hands. Hard to say who might have put the bearing on....just make sure you always demand a better bearing. This bearing only had a short id number and no brand name at all.

That makes a used ski tough. If you don't take the thing down all they way you can't know what it is made of.

I can tell you my ski would not have cheap parts, but others you cannot count on.

Really sucks. A $15 bearing vs. a $20 bearing? I'll take the later as long as I know the $$ is because of quality.

    Good luck on the ski.

Get the HD Mag Bearing that Crankworks offers. They purchase it then modify to work in the GPR crankcase (alignment and lube holes). Top quality on this one, SKF made in Germany. Woody has some pics and measurements comparing this to OEM in one of his build threads.
