760/1200 grate usage!!
Has any one heard or tryed to use a 760 grate on the 1200!?
the 760 has a more restricted inlet area than the 1200 along with a different ramp size and angle ...
just some thoughts rolling around...
this may affect the angle in which the ski rides on the water and the dreaded pourpise that the 760 developes much sooner than the 1200.. this may aleviate the need to drive the 760s hulls nose in to the water and enable the plate being shimmed down in front to make it faster! (run higher out of the water!!) my thought is that the 760s grate being closed more may also restrict intake water volume at higher speeds as its opening is totaly out of the water, so it falls off..(yes I know a stock 760 wont turn with the same power as a 1200 ,but a built motor is another story!!)
would the 1200 benefite at all from the slightly closed intake? (side's on the 760 are closed more, so to promote 'cleaner' water???..)
I know the 1200 has more bolts holding it, but this is an easy fix of a redrill on the 760 grate.. and vice verse with a little jb weld filler..
Any thoughts or experiments Anyone knows of !???

right idea, but the 760 fits up to a 144mm intake and the gp12 is a 155mm intake..diff bolt pattern..not sure the size of the grate is any diff.
I used to buy the raider 1100 R&D grate to use on my gp12's because it's a smaller opening than the 1200 RD grate. It was small change but worth it..holeshot still "grate"

thanks for the reply Dave!
if you cut the wings back on the 760 to fit the 155 pump and the redrill the rear sections 2 front bolts ,the 760 will fit on a 1200 (am looking at the 144's grate set in a 155 pump right now).
the 1200 is a bit shorter at the bolt up area, but could easly be welded to fill in that section if you wanted to try the larger opening 1200 on a 760 to try to get more water into the 144 pump...(experimentation time!!)
My wonder is more of what the 1200 could do for the 144 pump!
I dont have a 1200 grate to see if it also fits the 144mm pump with out grinding the ramp to fit the smaller diam..
the Raiders usage on a 1200 GP is good to know of...
I have yet to put on my 1200 pump, so its just ideas..
IMT possible that with the 155 in place of the 144, with additional hp to the twin, I may have to be set up as a 1200 in reguards to plate angle and then could find additional speed/quickness!! ..
I'm looking for quickness, but to know what changes will do is is a good thing!!
This may help the speed demons with re-engineering possibilitys!!
