No trim tabs
What do I put in place to keep water from coming through the bolt holes on my hull for the trim tabs if I remove them???

If these are thru bolted to the inside,IMO, ideally you back grind the holes, inside and out, then fill em' with f'glass/carbonfiber and epoxie resin, then repaint..if you removed the tabs for a test, you could use button heads or carrage bolts with a bit of sealer on the inside, using fender washers and nyloks... the button head style are flater.. carrage bolts are more convex..

Short allen set screws, in stainless. Thats what I used when I took my tabs off last year for test w/o tabs. And a drop of Loctite

This is what I did for my ski when I ran without trim tabs. Just like I told you last night, I just ran them without them on. If your that worried, just put some sealant up around the hole and let it dry up. Silicon will work just fine. Although I do like the allen head screws RX951 is showing in his picture, not a bad idea.
Tim, I ran mine without trim tabs, holes weren't plugged up, for a good while before putting trim tabs back on the ski. I hardly got any water in my ski.

So what exactly is the differance in ride quality/speed by removing the trim tabs ??? does it still handle. it it faster ??? I have thought of building a complete angled ride plate with the trim tabs built in and bolted into the stock locations..what do you think....

supposably you gain 1 mph, I have never done a back to back testing on it so I can't verify that. As far as handling goes, when my ski was doing 72 mph, I could not tell the difference between having the trim tabs and not having them on.

My ski handled terribly when I pulled them off. I really like what Jim did with the R&Ds (cut off and mirrored).

I have the Jim r&d trim tabs on my ski.

Running without trim tabs isn't a very good idea. You might get some better numbers the one run the ski won't hop but it can get out of control from an ant farting.
