89 650X2 build
I got this ski... it is bone stock... like as in nothing has been done to it. Hits 150 on both holes starts and runs on the trailer. I've never ridden an X2 but we have a 89 650sx with a few bolt ons... I can't wait to get this one built up. Any on interested in me taking pics or is it a waste of time?
Things I'm going to do/install
Re-install coil that I had Jetski Solutions rebuild (BAD ASS)
Start/Stop lanyard install
pump rebuild kit
RJCS top loader intake grate (very cool will post pics)
brand new 44sbn carb
a/f intake for 44sbn
Boyesen Dual stage reeds
15.5 Skat impeller
wet wolf free style cone
I'm going to dry out the exhaust a little per the mod I've heard... but for now I'm gunna ride it like this. Oh ya and drill out one or two holes in the waterbox, I've heard it works wonders. Hopefully everything will hold up for this summer... If it blows, it's off to GroupK
I forgot, I scored some cool vintage stickers and am willing to take more if you have them. This will add at least 15 more hp per the guys at PWCtoday.
What's the best way to get the old junk factory turf off, I'm using acetone and scraping but it's slow.

Sorry been super busy and haven't updated lately...
Mods I've done to date, hull cut 1.5", 15.5 skat, wet wolf cone, RCJS intake grate, hydroturf mats, cleaned up the pump imperfections, new pump bearings, new cdi coil (JSS rebuilt coil didn't work out, bad taste in my mouth). PJS start/stop with lanyard, seat strap removed... It actually has a 38mm carb instead of the 28mm with remote fuel pump... tiny tach added
Took it out Friday... What a friggin blast to ride! I love this ski, I want more brap really bad!
I was pulling 5550 rpms pretty constant, and saw 5570 a few times.
Still left to install...
Prok Air filter
boyseen dual stage reeds
after market intake
Punch out holes in stock water box
Sorry, I thought I had taken more pics, I'll get some more up. I thought the ski ran pretty well for what it was worth... I can see how the fun increases with more power...
I don't know about jetting... I'm told 10 different things...
I'm going to start with a 117.5 low, and probably a 160 high, but I bought a 170 and 180... and a 2.0 needle and seat which will give me a pop off of around 20-22lbs.

I don't know if I like the wet wolf, seems to kinda blow the pump out on holeshot, just more to tweak...

you need to get yourself a UMI steering on that thing also. The make a huge difference.

UMI, a 750 ported... pipe... a head... belive me I know! I need to beef up the direct steering too. I know 89 is like the only year they put direct steer on the X-2...
It's still a blast the way it is, but a UMI, Accusteer, and I have seen a 3rd stem company but can't remember the name. UMI started making them again, but they are like $350. You have to pay to play...
Now if someone has an old UMI setup they would like to donate...

Ha ha, I found my junk Kodak camera! More pics, the ski on the trailer is when the camera died... I want to put my 44mm carb on, but its running well in it's stock form... arghhh
Geez I need a UMI setup... I can't believe it's already April 29th...

Got my air filter, adapter and some jets from atlantic jetsports...
I want to install it... but I might hold off till I can find a pipe...
How much does a 38mm kehin with manifold and stock flame arrestor off a running 650X2 ski fetch? If I can pull it and turn a few bucks... towards a pipe...
The only thing I'm worried about is the air filter fitting in the X2...
