If you plan on going fast do yourself a favor and find a SS 800 grate here on the forum for sale and buy it. The advantage is having a good grate that will not fail and get you hurt like the one that you are looking for will.

Besides the 800's known for cracking and the SS grate costing an arm and a leg I would keep that 1200 grate. Also the 800 grate cavitates during holeshot. The 1200 is good grate to use all the time and the I would only use the 800 grate when I was doing speed runs just to get my speed numbers.

Whats the difference in speed mph's between the two grates?

There will be about 1-1.5 mph faster than a 1200 grate, but as said expect a little cavitation out the hole. As for price you can't put a price on your life spend the extra money if you are going to get a 800 grate.

I would keep that RIVA 1200 grate. Purchase an SS 800 grate.

Keep the 1200 for general use? Does it have benefits for normal use over the SS 800? I would assume some mid-range power?
