RX 951 di running pig rich
I have a 01 RXDI here for work... It has 48 hours on the machine... its running pig rich. Really really bad. its disgusting. Its like the injectors are stuck wide open all the time. Under no load it will run but bog hard and once you clear it out it will run great on the top end. If you let it idle it will bog up and just choke itself out. Under load (in water) its not gonna go anywhere. where would you start. I find it hard to believe both injectors are bad. Thanks in advance.

I have seen it once before but without pressure gage tool its hard to be sure. The fuel pressure regulator fails because the air regulator over pressures it and and fuel gets in the air rail and it runs very rich. DI is a tough thing to fix without proper tools and documentation.

the only advatage I have right now Is I have a gtx-di here that runs perfect, so if need be I can just swap things over one at a time until i find the culprit. I think I'm gonna change the whole rail assembly tonight, try that and see if it fixes anything. If not, I know I can rule that out.

swap the air injectors for a test, the early Di's had a ton of bad ones.

everything checks out fine that is electronically controlled. Looking at the air pump/compressor next.

Its nice working on those things right at the back , cant see what your doing and you have to dis-joint your forearms to do anything.

Hooked it up to my local dealers machine (They give me access to their machines for any ski I get) and every sensor is showing good. Checked the air and fuel pressure regs. Those check out good.. Looking towards the compressor now.

After the compressor checked out, I decided to go back to my snowmobile racing days and what happened to a fellow competitor and check out the intake side of the engine.... sure enough, here is what I found on the Mag intake port. hopefully this solves any problems with the machine now.

looks like you found it. Did you get water in it ? Never seen a broken reed on a 951 but it is possible but water wont compress so its usualy the cause but not always. If you did you could also have a damaged seal
