How To Title A Yamaha Without Tags or Title?

Is this even possible? I have a hull with the tags/serial numbers removed and no title. The hull is in great shape and I want to use it but don't know if this is even possible to do. What do I have to take to SOS to make this work?

In WI we can fill out the reg for a ski and leave the section for the HIN blank. When they process it they will issue a HIN and you are then told to scribe it into the hull somewhere. A lot of the racers around here that have CF hulls do this. They like to ride their skis on the lakes too. But instead of scribing it into the hull, they usually just write it on the back of the registraion card. Not real legal but in the grey area about writing it on the back of the card. Usually they let you go.

Yep, in Texas, altering a VIN or HIN is a felony. Many of the Kawasakis have plastic data plates that are riveted on and they break. On those, there is a second data plate under the battery.

One idea could be to buy a hull in say Ohio..... that has said tags and title..... fix it up and use that hull. Also please do not pm me asking me to sell just the tags.... You are close and we can work something out.

Straightening my post. It is ILLEGAL in the state of wi to tamper or alter a HIN. With this said he asked how to title a ski with no HIN. The way I described is perfectly legal in all ways and is always used here. A lot of the race guys like to ride their skis on the lake and this is the only way to do it legal. I guess in the end if you have any doubts if your doing anything wrong call your local police dept. They will help u with your situation. But so far from what I read I don't see anything wrong. I speak from the laws and regulations in the state of wisconsin.

    if I'm not mistaken

most sis have a second hidden vin number in the hull somewhere, Gtaher up your bill of sale and have the hull inspected by DMV/Law enforcement.

You'd hate to lose the ski after it's finished wouldn't you?..the vin# had to go somewhere, the question is where..and more importantly ...why.

Getting this done is mostly not worth the time/hassel IMHO.
