the 900 is the little brother of the 1050, i have a 1050 and i love the power and the hull very playful. but the ski is better suited for one rider even though its a 2 seater...

if you do a search.. there will be some good info

    Performance of the sl900

I am a mechanic on jet skis and knew about polaris going out of business. But the sl900 was offered to my as a trade for a 2004 blaster 4 wheeler. After seeing the ski i was amazed of the shape of it it looks almost new inside and out. It only has 225 hours on it everything works on the mfd except the speedometer. The ski fires right up and sounds strong havent got to ride it yet. Will this ski keep up with the seadoo xp with the 110 horse engine.

An SL900 will run about 60ish mph, with fairly strong acceleration.

The speedo problem might be as simple as the pitot pressure tube falling off the nipple, either under the drive shaft, or behind the MFD display.

The 900 engine was only made for two years, then Polaris focused on the slightly more powerful 1050, and the 1200 engines.

Other than the 10HP difference, the SL900 and the SL1050 are essentially the same. Those who have them, really like them.

    sl900 performance

The previous owner who i received the ski from told me for the 3 years he owned it he ran amsoil hp injector in it. I personally run amsoil products in everything i own its the best in oils I think. the ski has a hotseat waterbox in it a set of boysen reeds new prop and a intake grate. The owner before me said he got 62 out of it on gps on glass like water trimmed all the way up. Is that possible with the upgrades it has, he weighs about 185.

The MFD speedometer is not 100% accurate. It typically reads a few mph to the high side.

When we talk about speeds around here, we normally mean as measured by a GPS unit, or a radar gun.

    sl900 performance

The speed he quoted me was from a gps he checked it because he didnt believe the mfd reading of 67. The gps read 62 are those possible with the parts i listed it had.

    sl900 performance

Thanks for the info on these questions. I will have to see just how well it runs in a few weeks when the lake comes up more. Will still ask questions as i come up with more. How many hours will the average update kit last after installed. Keeping in mind i will take care of all proper maintenance possible.

I don't doubt you could do 62 on GPS, perhaps the pump has been changed which would make a difference. I also own a 900 though a 97 model which has around 110hp. My top was 63gps and 67mfd so it could be close. In any case I think you should be able to seriously run the XP if they are your numbers.
